Allstate Drivewise - Getting 10% off gift cards


Although you may not have Allstate for your car insurance, you still can use them for Drivewise. The way the program works, is you allow them to track your driving and rather than redeeming for discounts on your insurance, you cash them out for discounted gift cards.

When registering, register through the app, then select that you only want Drivewise, this will give you 10,000 points added within 3 days. Once you are registered then log on through the website, this will give you an additional 5,000. Once on, you can select that you want gift cards, and most gift cards will give you 10% off using points. For example, those 15,000 points you get for signing up can be used to buy $1,500 worth of Carnival gift cards for $1,350. Not bad for about 3 minutes of work.

If you want more gift cards, you just need to get more points. The app will give you 200 points for three days without stopping short, you will get another 200 points for three days of not topping 80 MPH. You will also get 200 points for not breaking hard and not breaking 80 MPH for every ten trips.

Another great way to get more points is to enter promotional codes. They will email these to you frequently (about once per week), and are typically worth about 1,000 points each. Make sure you play around with the codes they send, as other variants will likely work as well. For example, if they send you code 19BUNDLEUP, chances are 2019BUNDLEUP, BUNDLEUP19, and BUNDLEUP2019 will all work as well. Doing this, points can really rack up fast.

The above codes should get you just over 40,000 points. Add this to the 15,000 points you get just for signing up, you could start with 55,000. This would save you $550 on $5,500 worth of Carnival gift cards.

Some words of advice, I have focused on Carnival gift cards here for a reason. Carnival gift cards can be used like cash. You can use them to cover anything from deposit to on board credit or paying for excursions. If you wind up canceling your cruise, Carnival will send you replacement gift cards. Royal Caribbean, the other gift cards available through Drivewise, are much more restrictive. Gift cards on Royal Caribbean cannot be used to pay for gratuities, nor in the casino. In addition if you cancel your cruise, you do not get a refund, so be careful before using with Royal Caribbean!

Keeping kosher on Celebrity Cruises

Continuing in my series of posts focusing on  kosher food by cruise line , this time I am focusing on Celebrity Cruises. The representative I spoke with was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. The variety of products they offer were extensive, and included breakfast as well.
